Toboeus, comoedia sacra et nova

The play Toboeus, comoedia sacra et nova was published in Prague in 1587 by Daniel Adam of Veleslavín. According to the information on its title page, however, it was originally written in 1569, and its author is identified as Jan Aquila of Plavče. Several historical sources indicate that Toboeus was performed by students of the University of Prague, most likely as part of the traditional Beania festivities. However, the exact date of the performance, the circumstances of the play's composition, and questions concerning its authorship have not yet been fully clarified.
