Divus Joannes Nepomucenus, virescente inter undas laurea Martyr gloriose coronatus

The newest play of the presented corpus Saint John of Nepomuk, the Martyr Gloriously Crowned with Verdant Laurel in the Waves set the conflict of John and the King, which ended in the Saint’s incarceration, torture and death, on the royal court, where John’s supporters and adversaries operate. The significant role plays the entourage of the weak King Wenceslas IV and it is courtly intrigue, which causes John’s downfall. Courtiers Tarentus and Agilbertus dislike that the King bestows more attention on John than on anybody else. John manages to win Tarentus to his side but the intrigue of the second courtier results in John’s death. More info in Czech
