Gloriosus Divi Joannis Nepomuceni pro sigillo poenitentiae agon
- First performance: May 1730, Klatovy, the highest grammar class
- Author: Joannes Winkler, SJ (1705–1772)
In the play The Famous Fight of St. John of Nepomuk for the Seal of Confession J. Winkler treated the same storyline as in the play Divus Joannes Martyr, i.e. the last days of John’s life and his death. Instead of realistic historical characters, remarkably, allegorical personae appear here. Queen Johanna, is transformed into Piety (Pietas), King Wenceslas into Laziness (Desidia), and John of Nepomuk into Holiness (Sanctitas). Unfortunately, the synopsis does not provide enough information as to whether the use of a similar plot meant also using identical means of expression or even parts of the text of the older play.
