Sacratior gratiarum trias
- First performance: 1729, Opole [PL], Middle grammar class
- Author: Carolus Walhoffen, SJ (1706 – post 1770)
The subject of the play The Holiest Trinity of Graces is a preparation of the canonization celebration of John of Nepomuk. The main inspiration for the plot was the fact that the canonization did not take place – as was customary – in the Vatican, but in the Lateran basilica. Hence, allegorical representatives of Vatican and Lateran are the protagonists of the play; besides, Custom (Consuetudo) appears, and above all the supporters of John’s canonization (Innocence, Silence and Love) together with its opponents (Conflict, Envy, Libel and Pride).
